Every Saturday morning a large weekly market is held in the “White Town” of Ostuni, just a 20-minute drive away. It spreads out from the square near the Church of Madonna del Pozzo into the surrounding streets. Simply everything is on offer: clothes, shoes, household goods, home textiles, pet supplies, furniture and food.

Afterwards, the picturesque town invites you to stroll through the narrow streets around the Piazza della Libertà and admire the typical white limestone houses. Small cafes and restaurants offering typical Italian cuisine allow guests to round off the day with a generous glass of red wine.

Our tip in August: The Cavalcata di Sant’Oronzo is the highlight of Ostuni’s cultural calendar. It is held from 25 to 27 August every year in honour of the city’s patron saint, Saint Oronzo. The old town’s houses and narrow streets are elaborately decorated, numerous concerts and events are held, and cheerful music and smaller celebrations can be found everywhere.
